Age 9
I live with my mother and my siblings in a home where there are many of us depending on her. My mother is the only parent we have. She is a peasant farmer, but she is also sick with diabetes and high blood pressure. There are many days when her illness stops her from working, and that makes life very hard for our family.
Some days our biggest worry is food. Other days it is school needs or medical problems. When my mother is not feeling well, I worry about her because she is the one who takes care of everything. Even though she tries her best, there are many things she cannot manage on her own.
I am in Grade 5 and I like singing and playing sports. These things help me feel strong and give me joy, even when things at home are difficult. I want to keep going to school and doing my best, but there are times when uniforms, school fees, or supplies are not possible for us.
If someone chooses to support me, it would help my family in very real ways. It would help make sure we have food, medical care for my mother, a safe place to live, and the school items I need to stay in class. It would give me a chance to keep learning and growing, and it would help my mother carry the heavy responsibility she faces every day.
